SIGNAL 87

Open Casting & Crew Call

A transmission from elsewhere seeking collaborators

About Signal 87

Signal 87 is a 24/7 experimental audio broadcast and an open anomaly.

This independent project documents a persistent signal from the static-filled space between realities. Rooted in surrealism, unreality, and liminal horror, this is not a typical radio stationβ€”it's an artifact, a transmission from a place that should not be.

The broadcast is a continuous, immersive soundscape that feels found. We're creating an audio experience that feels like accidentally tuning into something that's listening backβ€”a living archive of the strange from a world where the rules are different.

We're building this experience to make listeners feel they've discovered something not meant for them. Something that unnerves, intrigues, and makes them stop and ask: "Wait... what was that?"

Open Positions

We're assembling a remote team for this "found-footage" style audio project. All contributions will be pre-recorded and woven into the continuous stream.

All positions are paid with flat rates. Core contributors will also be included in a revenue-share plan if/when the project is monetized.

πŸŽ™οΈ The Host (Recurring DJ)

Phase 2 - Spring 2026

We need a calm, detached, mesmerizing voiceβ€”not a high-energy personality. You'll deliver station IDs, cryptic reports, and introduce segments as the primary voice of the signal.

πŸ’° $200-$300 per batch of 20-30 recorded segments

🎭 Voice Actors

Phase 2 - Spring 2026

We need diverse voices for "found" audio fragments: cryptic scripts, fragmented audio dramas, distorted messages, or whispered numbers in the static.

πŸ’° $10-$30 per accepted clip (10-30 seconds)

🎡 Musicians & Composers

Phase 2 - Spring 2026

Create custom tracks native to Signal 87's world: haunting ambient loops, surreal alternate-reality pop, or distorted melodies that sound "found."

Important: You retain full ownership. We're commissioning a non-exclusive, in-perpetuity sync license.

πŸ’° $150-$400 per track (3-5 minutes) | Open to licensing existing catalog

🎨 Visual Artists

Phase 1 - Apply by Dec 31

Establish Signal 87's visual identity: surreal, liminal, and unnerving. Create key art, social media assets, and in-universe graphics that build the lore.

πŸ’° $150-$350 for key art | $40-$80 for smaller assets

πŸ”Š Sound Designers

Phase 1 - Apply by Dec 31

Build the fundamental audio identity: custom static, signal hums, "dead air" textures, and unnerving ambient loops that define the broadcast.

πŸ’° $25-$75 per asset (varies by complexity)

πŸ‘Ÿ Foley Artists

Phase 2 - Spring 2026

Create specific sounds for our scripts: unnatural sound effects, vocal processing for "found" audio, and in-world action sounds.

πŸ’° $25-$75 per asset (varies by complexity)

✍️ Writers

Phase 1 - Apply by Dec 31

Create the raw material: Host monologues, fragmented audio scripts, cryptic PSAs, and station IDs. We need voices that understand subtle, slow-burn horror.

πŸ’° $25-$50 per accepted script (100-300 words)

🎚️ Audio Editors

Phase 2 - Spring 2026

Assemble all elements (Host segments, music, voices, sound design) into cohesive blocks. Mix and master the final broadcast segments.

πŸ’° $40-$80 per 30-minute assembled block
