Open Casting & Crew Call
A transmission from elsewhere seeking collaborators
Signal 87 is a 24/7 experimental audio broadcast and an open anomaly.
This independent project documents a persistent signal from the static-filled space between realities. Rooted in surrealism, unreality, and liminal horror, this is not a typical radio stationβit's an artifact, a transmission from a place that should not be.
The broadcast is a continuous, immersive soundscape that feels found. We're creating an audio experience that feels like accidentally tuning into something that's listening backβa living archive of the strange from a world where the rules are different.
We're building this experience to make listeners feel they've discovered something not meant for them. Something that unnerves, intrigues, and makes them stop and ask: "Wait... what was that?"

We're assembling a remote team for this "found-footage" style audio project. All contributions will be pre-recorded and woven into the continuous stream.
All positions are paid with flat rates. Core contributors will also be included in a revenue-share plan if/when the project is monetized.
We need a calm, detached, mesmerizing voiceβnot a high-energy personality. You'll deliver station IDs, cryptic reports, and introduce segments as the primary voice of the signal.
We need diverse voices for "found" audio fragments: cryptic scripts, fragmented audio dramas, distorted messages, or whispered numbers in the static.
Create custom tracks native to Signal 87's world: haunting ambient loops, surreal alternate-reality pop, or distorted melodies that sound "found."
Important: You retain full ownership. We're commissioning a non-exclusive, in-perpetuity sync license.
Establish Signal 87's visual identity: surreal, liminal, and unnerving. Create key art, social media assets, and in-universe graphics that build the lore.
Build the fundamental audio identity: custom static, signal hums, "dead air" textures, and unnerving ambient loops that define the broadcast.
Create specific sounds for our scripts: unnatural sound effects, vocal processing for "found" audio, and in-world action sounds.
Create the raw material: Host monologues, fragmented audio scripts, cryptic PSAs, and station IDs. We need voices that understand subtle, slow-burn horror.
Assemble all elements (Host segments, music, voices, sound design) into cohesive blocks. Mix and master the final broadcast segments.
We believe in complete transparency. All hired contributors receive a clear agreement before work begins.
Work-for-hire basis: Signal 87 owns the rights to your contribution for the flat-rate fee.
What you get:
Non-exclusive license: You retain 100% ownership of masters and publishing.
We commission the right to use your track in the broadcast and related media.
To protect the "found-footage" mystery, all contributors sign a simple NDA.
This means: Don't publicly discuss your involvement, share unreleased scripts, or reveal lore until the project launches or you receive written permission.
Absolutely! If you have skills across multiple disciplines, we encourage you to indicate all roles you're interested in on your application.
We value talent and creative vision over formal credentials. Your portfolio and samples are what matter most. Emerging artists are welcome to apply.
This varies by role. Most positions involve individual contributions on your own schedule. We'll discuss specific timelines during the selection process.
Phase 1 roles will be reviewed by early January 2026. Phase 2 roles will be reviewed in Spring 2026. Due to expected volume, we may only contact selected applicants.
No! This is a fully remote project. We welcome applicants from anywhere in the world.
